Pokemon Red and Blue

Red/Blue Walkthrough

Pokemon Red and Blue were released back in early September 1998, shortly after the TV show began airing. The game was so hyped up, it sold 300,000 copies its first week, setting a new record as fastest selling Game Boy game (or video game?). That record has changed since then, but it sure did impress a lot of people!

The game is aimed at children with its childish comic touch and simple to understand storyline. The game is easy to learn and can be enjoyed by both girls and boys of all ages, which is one of the reasons it sells so well! The battling aspect of the game contains no blood or gore, and pokemon never die, just "faint". The battling also requires strategic battle tactics, which is why it appeals to older audiences as well. For a Game Boy game, Pokemon Red and Blue has very deep gameplay and is a combination of roleplaying and strategy. It has sold over a million copies to date, and is continuing to sell.

The game takes place in the realm of pokemon. You play as an 11-year-old boy who grew up in the small town of Pallet with his mother. You are now old enough to get your pokemon-trainer's lisence and a local pokemon professor has promised you a pokemon to get you started. But then you meet the Professor Oak's grandson, Gary. He is the same age as you and also preparing to go on a training journey. The obnoxious Gary sees you as a rival, and will do whatever it takes to stay ahead of you on the journey to becoming a master pokemon trainer. It is now up to you to choose a pokemon and become the world's greatest trainer; before your rival does! Embrace your destiny...

Throughout the game, you capture, evolve, and raise up to 150 different pokemon to be the best possible. You travel the world, engaging in battle with the best pokemon trainers around, while learning how to be a powerful trainer and going on exciting adventures. Another great aspect of the game is trading and battling with friends. Using a Game Link Cable, trainers are able to link up with their friends' Game Boys and trade or battle their favorite pokemon. Don't miss out on this phenomenal game.
