Pokemon: The First Movie

Pokemon: The First Movie (a.k.a Mewtwo Strikes Back) is, obviously, the first ever pokemon movie in both the US and Japan. It originally was released summer(?) '98 in Japan and was an instant success, as was true of the English dubbed version released November '99.

The movie overall was great. There was nice computer animation, good music, and an intriguing storyline. Unfortunately, the English version was poorly dubbed ("This just proves that fighting is wrong"?!) and the story was even changed a bit, but most older pokemon fans can easily ignore this and enjoy the movie for what it is.

So, on with the plot description: A science project is funded by the leader of the infamous Team Rocket, Giovani, to clone the world's strongest and rarest pokemon, Mew, believed to be extinct. When the creature is successfully cloned, it realizes it is merely a science experiment and vows to take revenge on all humans by destroying their world and rebuilding his own way with his psychic powers.

Thus Ash, Misty, and Brock come in. They are invited to the clone's, Mewtwo's, palace to battle the world's greatest pokemon master. As soon as they arrive, they discover Mewtwo's intentions. Mewtwo has already sent a deadly storm to wreck the world while he creates super powerful pokemon clones to inherit the earth. Now Ash must accept Mewtwo's challenge and stop him before he loses the battle of his life!
