Pokemon At E3

Oh, what person doesn't wish they could attend the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3)? I've only got second-hand info for you, but it's better than nothing, eh? From what I've seen, this year was good. Nintendo 64 looks to go out with a bang whent the Dolphin arrives in stores. Fantastic games are on our way. Anyways, I'll just talk about the four pokemon-related items there:

Pokemon Gold/Silver

Pokemon Center Pokedex Nighttime

Probably the most anticipated game on our way is Pokemon Gold and Silver. It has already sold over 4.5 million copies in Japan. It isn't just another variation of the Red/Blue/Yellow/Green versions, however. This is the perfect sequel and will probably be one of the best games on Game Boy Color you'll see.
Rather than play Ash, you play a completely new character trying to become a pokemon master while staying ahead of your red-haired rival. Like the original, you travel through exotic lands in search of pokemon and aim to be the best trainer. This time, it takes place in the Orange Islands, with a completely new set of Gym Leaders, more side missions, 100 new pokemon, both diurnal and nocturnal pokemon (yes, it won't be light 24 hours a day anymore), and even longer game play. Even after you defeat the Elite Four, the game goes on. You will be able to challenge previous Gym Leaders (and new ones that have booted out the old) and even battle Ash. Pokemon breeding will also be allowed to create stronger pokemon (as far as I know, no cross-breeding).
The graphics are impressive, too. This isn't a cheap colorized version like Pokemon Yellow. No, the colors are excellent, vibrant and the graphics are fairly detailed.
There are two versions of the game, like before. Each one has a slightly different set of pokemon. Battles and trades can be made via the link cable. The game comes to American shores on October 16th, so prepare for the ultimate adventure! For more info, check out my Gold/Silver section.

Hey, You, Pikachu!

Deep In The Woods Pikachu's Room Venomoth Gloom and Piky

Another highly anticipated game is "Hey You, Pikachu!", originally titled "Pikachu VRS", originally titled "Pikachu Genki Dechu". Anyways, this is probably one of the most unique games we'll ever see on the N64. In Hey You, Pikachu! you get to indulge in the joys of pokemon training by raising your own Pikachu right on the N64. Although, instead of battling, you aim to make friends with Pikachu, keep him happy, and explore a pokemon forest with him.
Sounds tough to do with a hand-held controller, right? Well, you won't need one. This game comes with a microphone headset that plugs into your N64. You get to talk to your Pikachu! Compliment it, insult it, ask it to do something, etc. There are a number of words and phrases Pikachu will recognize.
This is one of the first console games that allows for social interaction (somewhat). I am looking very forward to it. Coming this fall.

Pokemon Puzzle League

Puzzle League Puzzle League
Not much is really known about this title except that it is original to America. Pokemon Puzzle League is planned for a N64 and Game Boy Color release this fall. It is a Tetris-style puzzle game that is sure to prove challenging and addictive.

Pocket Pikachu 2

Pocket Pikachu Color

Remember the Pocket Pikachu? Well, it's back. And this time it's in color. Pikachu shows a number of new actions and features. Like before, it can be fed watts which are collected by walking or playing games.
Unlike the last Pocket Pikachu, the Pocket Pikachu 2 can transfer watts to the Gold and Silver game packs through an infrared sensor. This sounds interesting... The Pocket Pikachu 2 is set to be released in September.
